  fun facts....huh?
While avoiding my homework and entertaining my lobe of knowledge, which if you ask me is doing what school should be doing for us (that is, learning about what we find interesting), I found out some facts that unless posted would just stir in my head and further convince me to cook some great tofu platters. I give you "Some of Kara's reasons for going veggie"

>750 million people go to bed hungry every night
>one-third of the world’s grain is fed to farmed animals
> A typical Western meat-based diet can only feed 2.5 billion people: a plant-based diet will feed every one in the world
>The global appetite for meat and the industrial techniques of the meat industry are destroying the Earth
>24 per cent of dairy cows are pregnant when slaughtered - many nearing full term.
>Calves are taken from their mothers a day or two after birth. Males are usually killed
>Boiled alive->up to one fifth of chickens may be fully conscious when they enter the scalding tank to loosen their feathers
>75 per cent of all piglets have their teeth crushed and tails cut off without anaesthetics
>80 per cent of all eggs come from battery hens - kept five to a cage no bigger than a microwave oven.
>a quarter of dairy cows are so exhausted by the dairy milking process they never see their third year, despite having a life expectancy of 21 years or more

it goes on and on and on and on......sick huh? I doubt this is the first time you have heard all of this before, but please, just think on it for a minute. Even if you just heard one new thing, think about it, and decide if it has moved you. Now act. NOW! hahahaha.....

True or not I find myself leaning more in this guy;s direction:

He may present his ieas in a coarse manner, but I don't really care and I figured it had some relevancy anyhow.

kara you are awesome and i think it's radical that you're doing something about what you believe instead of whining about it like i tend to do sometimes. 2005=year of the anti-capitalist! haha, i love ya kara and especially your veggie ways!

Hey Chris; I've read maddox before and he seems to be a very angry man. Aside all the cussing, I am aware that to plant, you must crop, and to crop you must harvest a portion of land that was naturally intended for wildlife. The thing is you have to pick and choose your battles; either you stop eating because animals die in the process of making wheat, meat, or anything in between, or you choose not to support what you find ridiculuously cruel. My stance is simply that we have gotten so lazy, lacks and overconcerned with profit that animals are in hideous conditions to satisfy an exagerated demand for meat and milk that need not even exist. If I could survive in a financially supportable, completely free-range diet(including both animals and produce) and it was available at my finger-tips, by-golly I'd be the first there but the fact is so much money is being spilt into the cheaper, more gruesome coorporations who can make 100 times the killing with triple the profit by simply ignoring morality that it is too expensive to go free-range. My goal is to put those type of businesses out of work by not giving them my money. In the mean time, I carefully read labels and mission statments about what I am consuming in hopes that I am not supporting as mass of bloodshed by wreckless conditions in our meat factories. Does that make any sense?

I suppose what I've missed is that you aren't trying to force my opinion, but rather anyone willing to read what you have to write. I shouldn't have worried about explaining mys viewpoint at all. My apologies.

I am not at all internet savy, I cannot tell if that was online sarcasm or not. was it? or are you sorry? or not? oh no...

And in the end nothing really mattered anyway... I love you, Kara. (perhaps your wondering how I meant that?)
