  Three candles
The beautiful hazel and brown puppy eyes stare deep into my inner brain. Some people believe communication with animals is so real that they have entire conversations with troubled dogs or mal-behaved pissing cats to find out exactly what trauma has occurred that is causing their behavior. Being a firm animal lover and supporter of the value of all life I would like to believe something like that is possible however seeing as we can barely communicate effectively in English with our homosapien neighbors I am not sold on the idea that cross-species communication is an untapped highway of reality. He cocks his head in what humans interpret as a question stated and then pauses....holding still and steady as if for a reply. The day is already 1/3 of the way over according to the local windsurfers however my tired, Frisbee worn body tends to read the angles of the sun rays from a different perspective. If you ask me here in my bed is just as wonderful and magnificent as out there on the waves however one comes with a down comforter and a dalmatian to boot. Snuggling back into my sand-filled sheets and closing off the bright stripes of sun pressing through my window blinds, I let my mind drift back into that little hollow spot and the base of my brain reserved for useless thoughts and meanderings.

Beach life is almost over and although I am leaving one sand-filled community only to drive 18 hours to reach another, the beach I will reside near next will rarely be visited due to the pressing of senior theses, rehersals, adoptions and socializing. In my head I often skip over the entirety of next year to try and ponder the milky and mysterious waters of life after formal education. So much unknown pumps my heartbeat up a knotch or two and in a way that is much more enjoyable than the dread of the resulting punishment for the slackerdom that was this summer. Sure, I may have worked nearly every day of the summer at two jobs, performed twice in my first professional concerts in Los Angeles, and successfully moved into a place of my own in a little town comparable to my perfect heaven, however I did not touch the list of "to-do's" I created for myself back in May. We all dig our own graves sometimes right?

Lunch is calling and as is my beautiful habit here in Manzanita, I will walk down to Mother Natures and gather up all the reduced produce needed to make a rejuvinating smoothy. Good times
